IPPIN Japanese Dining - Brisbane

This project was done in collaboration wit IPPIN Japanese Dining to create new environment for there store and customers.

For IPPIN Japanese Dining, we created a series of bespoke elements designed to immerse guests in a space that feels both refined and connected to nature. Along the walls, we sculpted custom rock-textured panels, each hand-carved to capture the organic cracks, layers, and shadows of natural stone. These flow seamlessly into a striking feature moon installation, its craters and contours adding a dramatic focal point. To complement the stonework, we designed custom seating where solid timber slabs rest on sculpted rock bases, blending warmth and texture in a single statement piece. Together, these features transform the restaurant into an environment that feels timeless, tactile, and distinctly Japanese in its balance of artistry and function.

As the centrepiece of IPPIN Japanese Dining, we created a custom moon installation that captures the surface of the lunar landscape in incredible detail. Using our lightweight yet durable S1 concrete mix, we began with a flat base layer to form the foundation before applying a thicker sculpting layer. From there, each crater, ridge, and ripple was carved by hand, replicating the intricate patterns and textures of the moon’s surface. Fine brushes and precision tools were used to etch the smallest details, creating realistic shadows and depth when illuminated. Encased in a circular frame and backlit to highlight every contour, this installation serves as both an artistic focal point and a conversation piece, bringing a sense of wonder and atmosphere to the dining space.
